Still Afraid of the Cloud? Now There’s a Safety Net

A few months ago, I wrote an article for my friends at Fundera.com about why I think (almost) every company on QuickBooks desktop should and could be using QuickBooks Online. You might also want to check out my “Moving Online” series, if you haven’t already.

This week, I have one more reason: Jobber’s new app, SafetyNet.

What is it? It’s a back up. For QBO.

THAT’S RIGHT!! A BACK UP TOOL.

For years. Yeeeaaaarrrrsssss, I have been hearing people – both small business owners and accounting professionals – say that one reason they don’t want to move to QBO is because there’s no backup feature, like there is in desktop.

For accounting professionals and QuickBooks ProAdvisors, we like to do backups before we do anything, just in case it doesn’t work. For small business owners, we like it in case thing get totally jacked up, either by ourselves or a clueless employee.

For me, Stacy Kildal, I never realized what a big deal it was – I had ways to go about testing setups, or imports, or apps – until someone brought it to my attention. And yeah, sort of a pain in the ass not being able to do a backup.

I think it might be one reason why many ProAdvisors are hesitant to try out apps that might help a client. Yes, you can test it on a demo account, but sometimes it’s difficult to see how it will work or not work with the actual client data. Despite still being in beta, I’ll be recommending this to anyone that will listen that it’s one more way for us to help our clients find solutions to make running their business just a little bit easier.

So, now that we can do all of this with SafetyNet, try an app, then restore that backup, my thoughts?

Like Joey Lawrence would say: WHOA.

PS: My friend and co-host of The QB Show, Woody Adams, did a demo video, check it out:
